So, as you know, I debated whether to buy an iPhone and still haven
I am so Tired This Morning
I watched this great tennis match on TV last night. It was the highest level of tennis imaginable but the match didn’t start until 10:00 pm and it ended way past midnight. Here we had the best match of the US Open — between last year’s finalists — and it was scheduled for a weekday night, a school night. I can
Just to Clarify
The Capitals official NHL camp does not open until the rookies report later this week. There are NHL and CBA rules governing when camps officially can open and when players must report.
All of the players that have been on the ice the last three weeks are here on their own accord. They have to pay for their own ice time. The coaches they ask to help them are paid for by the players. The workouts done are designed by the strength and conditioning coaches of the Caps but the workouts are unsupervised. Yesterday, there were 18 players on the ice working out on their own. Our captain and our spiritual leader (Clark and Kolzig) were leading the players in workouts and drills including when a side was scored upon, that team all hit the ice and did ten push-ups. They scrimmaged and it was fun to watch. I know there were five fans in the stands that had come to see what was happening on the ice. It is heartening to know that so many of the players have reported early and are working really hard before camp even opens. They are playing together but paying for the ice themselves. The workouts are spirited and they are having a lot of fun bonding as a team. I will also note that the new practice uniforms look great. I am very happy with how clean and sharp the new designs are and how the players seem to love the new fit and feel. I remember all of the angst on our message boards and in the media and in the blogosphere about the new uniform designs and colors. I believe those concerns will be put to rest now. It was also great to see Backstrom and Nylander on the ice, working out and doing drills together. It was readily apparent on the ice that they both have that same "pass first" set up shooters mentality. And boy can Nylander dangle with the puck! I had forgotten how incredibly talented he is with the puck on his stick. Also, it is great to see how welcoming our new facility is to the players. They can play; work out; hang out; and have meetings all in one modern, large and well-designed facility. The Kettler Capitals Iceplex is a huge hit with our new players and their families. I hope to see you all at a camp. You will have a great time.
