1.  I agree. The new uniforms do look great. The consensus around the league seems to be that we nailed the new redesign and have created the most attractive jerseys within the new design parameters in the NHL. We also polled our players and they are NOT concerned about the issues of the uniforms dripping water into their gloves or skates. We are not experiencing that issue to date with our uniforms. We are seeing the new socks, which are so thin, not wearing as well as we thought so we will be paying for lots and lots of socks during the season. I remember some of the comments on the message boards concerning our redesign. My favorite was that they looked like a "colostomy bag". Do you remember that one? :-) I think the new uniforms and color schemes seem natural to us and are a big improvement. 2. The new scoreboard is really fantastic. We are the first to use it. We didn’t have time to do any of our video packages on it and we are all working out the kinks. But the quality is  superb and our fans will benefit greatly. I am glad that the fans like the new sound system too BUT the new sound system wasn’t working last night. That was the old sound system in use at the game. The new sound system should be up and running by opening night. The new LED systems are also up. Both units are new. There will be some new additional technology added as well. The big side boards – way up high – will be replaced with new LED based systems by opening night. 3. The costs for all of the improvements to date are being borne by us. The changes were to be funded by an increase in tax which would mean a raise of ticket prices on the tax which we have NOT passed on to our customers to date. Thanks to Washington Sports and Abe Pollin for getting all of these upgrades for the fans of our community. 4. The music. We didn’t unveil anything new in terms of music and in terms of video. It is a preseason game. Come to the Home Opener and see our new game presentation packages. 5. Cameras. Bring

Good Story by Corey

Yep. Optionality is a good thing and puck possession is a good thing.

If you went to the game last night, you saw a D-man Mike Green score a goal on a sweet backhand and then skate the entire length of the ice to shoot on goal in overtime. The shot rebounded to Backstrom who put in the game winner. There was another play where Poti stopped a shot in from goal; skated the length of the ice; shoveled a pass; got it back and almost scored again. Having D-men that can skate and pass and lets us attack as a unit is a key change for us as a team this year. Puck possession is key and we now look more organized on our transition game.
