1. I agree. The new uniforms do look great. The consensus around the league seems to be that we nailed the new redesign and have created the most attractive jerseys within the new design parameters in the NHL. We also polled our players and they are NOT concerned about the issues of the uniforms dripping water into their gloves or skates. We are not experiencing that issue to date with our uniforms. We are seeing the new socks, which are so thin, not wearing as well as we thought so we will be paying for lots and lots of socks during the season. I remember some of the comments on the message boards concerning our redesign. My favorite was that they looked like a "colostomy bag". Do you remember that one?
I think the new uniforms and color schemes seem natural to us and are a big improvement. 2. The new scoreboard is really fantastic. We are the first to use it. We didn’t have time to do any of our video packages on it and we are all working out the kinks. But the quality is superb and our fans will benefit greatly. I am glad that the fans like the new sound system too BUT the new sound system wasn’t working last night. That was the old sound system in use at the game. The new sound system should be up and running by opening night. The new LED systems are also up. Both units are new. There will be some new additional technology added as well. The big side boards – way up high – will be replaced with new LED based systems by opening night. 3. The costs for all of the improvements to date are being borne by us. The changes were to be funded by an increase in tax which would mean a raise of ticket prices on the tax which we have NOT passed on to our customers to date. Thanks to Washington Sports and Abe Pollin for getting all of these upgrades for the fans of our community. 4. The music. We didn’t unveil anything new in terms of music and in terms of video. It is a preseason game. Come to the Home Opener and see our new game presentation packages. 5. Cameras. Bring
Any way we can get the opening night video on the Caps website, since I won’t be able to make it due to a wedding (first time since 2000 I won’t be there on Opening Night. Sorry). Thank God for 40 other nights of hockey…
1 – I love the new uniforms. The white ones, that is. I wish they were our home unis, not the red ones. But I’ll take what I can get
2- I haven’t seen the scoreboard in person, but in the pictures I have seen it looks pretty cool. I will see it in person this season for sure! Now if you could just convince Dan Snyder to put some HD screens at FedEx field…
3 – You guys really do care about the fans, thank you!
4 – as long as you aren’t playing Guns and Roses anymore I’ll be happy
5 – you can count on that!
Still miss the capitol/crossed sticks logo. Hope you make that into a third sweater.
I am very happy with the improvements at the Phone Booth. The new scoreboard is great, as is the new color palette inside the arena.
The new uniforms, I like them right out the gate. The road white looked great last night. Looking forward to seeing the home red opening night.
The only improvement I think we could have done with out was the image of Jagr on that year in history board.
1 – Yeah, they’re growing on me. I like them more than I thought I would. Still have a few minor design issues, such as, sitting in 409 it’s really hard to read players names and see the new logo on the front of the jersey. But, like I said, it’s starting to grow on me.
2 – LOVE the new scoreboard. The new LED system around the upper bowl is awesome as well. Kinda weird without the out of town scoreboards. I’m assuming they’re moving to the LED system around the lower bowl. Sound was awful last night. good to know it’s not the final system. Could barely hear it in the end zones. Also like the new color scheme in the arena…could the Wizards be changing their colors as well???
3 – thanks the hockey gods. can’t afford more expensive tickets.
4 – music or no music, I really don’t care. I’m there to watch the Caps. Unfortunately have to miss the home opener (first time in about seven years) due to a wedding.
5 – camera. check.
