One thing Caps season ticket holders used to get when Abe owned the Caps, the Bullets, the arena, etc. was an opportunity to buy tickets to events at the arena before they went on sale to the public. I occasionally had friends asking me to get them tickets for events before they went on sale, and all I had to do was call my sales rep.
Now that the Caps aren’t part of the Arena/Bullets organization (whatever Abe calls it these days), I figured that would be one benefit that went away. I think I only used it once for myself, so I didn’t miss it too much. But it was a nice benefit.
Anyway, I’m much happier with the Caps ownership situation now than I was under Abe Pollin as there is a committment to winning now and there wasn’t before (they let Scott Stevens go, and then when they had a chance to bring Teemu Selanne to DC in his prime, they passed as he was making too much money…).
The only team that has a banner hanging for on the court/ice/field performance that was won in the Verizon Center are the Caps (Attendance Championships, though nice, don’t count as on the court performance.), and I can see that being true for the forseeable future.
But do you WISH you had tickets?
