New Nationals Stadium

Mark Lerner was kind and invited me for a walking tour of the new Washington Nationals stadium. It is going to be a spectacular new place to see baseball come next Opening Day. The sight lines are great; the pitch of the stadium is very friendly; and the acoustics and lighting will be very much appreciated by fans.

The seats are all perfected to be dead aimed at home plate. They are wide and of blue color. The concourses are huge as are the bathrooms. The scoreboard and screens will be world class and the new locker room is simply amazing. I have never seen anything as big and comfortable for the players in my career in sports.  The main walk-up area is going to be one of a kind too with shops, murals, statues and a good bit of nostalgia wrapped in a modern twist. 1. There are parking issues at other stadiums too. Good luck trying to drive to any of the big 3 Fenway, Wrigley, and that dump Yankee stadium.

  2. I’ve got an answer for a lack of parking. Go early and let others deal with the problems. The parking problem will eventually be fixed.

How cool is Ted for being supportive of baseball when Hockey attenance has been a challange. Caps are 3-0 and on the way back up.

  3. Ted! I’m just as excited about the Nat’s new stadium… but come on!

The Caps are off to a 3-0 start and you’re talking about a stadium that’s due to open 6 months from now? The Caps look much improved and it seems like the rebuilding is truly over… gloat a bit, you definitely deserve it. Maybe it’s not “in you” to gloat but you have to say something!

  4. Ted: building a nice stadium is terrific but if they don’t get their act together with respect to access and parking, no one is going to see it. Every account lately is that things are going to be disasterous next season in trying to get to and from that stadium. Saying how great the stadium is, given the lack of access and parking, is kind of like asking Mrs. Lincoln how the play was.
