Winning in professional sports takes a delicate balance of talent, chemistry, luck, breaks from the officials and good health. Getting it all to work together and fighting through the hard times is what makes for great teams.
Health and keeping key players in the lineup is really a big deliverable for a team’s success. The Redskins are having their share of tough luck in terms of health. We have already been hit hard by the injury stick too at the Capitals losing Eric Fehr, Alexander Semin and Boyd Gordon to date. When you lose a key player, the lines get juggled; new assignments must be learned; new roles taken; and the psyche and confidence of the team gets tested. Having depth is key but losing key players is hard to overcome during a very long season. Pray for good health for all of our local teams.
I saved my prayers for Etan and hopefully they’ll be answered…ditto for Ron Springs (whose son is on leave of absence from the Redskins!)
These injuries will heal soon, and they players will be back on the ice. We really do need Boyd Gordon. The Caps are 3-0 with him, and 0-2 without him, and they’ve been getting outshot badly. It didn’t help that the two best offensive teams the Caps have played so far have been on the schedule with Boyd hurt, but it happens.
I’m still saying 44-28-10, which is 98 points…
If Semin, Gordon, and Fehr throws off this team, they are as deep as a kiddie pool.
“Pray for good health for all of our local teams.”
I’m not religious so maybe I just don’t get it but shouldn’t one pray for more important things than sports results (via health of local teams)?
Poor Steve Eminger…not even a mention. Chopped Liver.
