Great to here you gave Goat a well deserved invite to your box. He a great guy and a great fan.

As for the small crowd I think adding JUST Poti, Nylander and Kozlov in the offseason has much to do with that. We know your open to us fans, but you should actaully listen to us sometimes and get the type of players we want and need to truly make us better.

  2. Team is going great Ted!

Thank you for the wonderful night, vs the Pens. Sure I had to sit next to a bunch of idiot penguins fans who couldn’t figure out that we weren’t at a Steelers game….

but hey, my Carolina Hurricanes GF was cheering for the caps all night. She too understands now why nobody likes Pittsburgh….

anyway thanks for the great night at the game, sorry we can’t make it out to those nights when its only 10k full…college calls….

  3. Goat deserves a new Caps Sweater!

For all he does for the game experience and fans it’s the least that you can do for him!

  4. With last night’s match included, four of our seven smallest home crowds since the lock-out have come against the Lightning – odd considering they were the last playoff opponent we faced (but I guess the fact that most of these were mid-week matches didn’t help). Nonetheless the action on the ice itself was enjoyable – and a true legend of the Caps fandom was honoured!

When we start winning consistently, the fans will come back – we’ve already seen this at the Wizards the past few seasons and it’ll happen for the Caps too.

  5. I don’t want to change the subject too much… but speaking of the $10 eagles nest tickets, I heard that the team holds 50 of them for sale until the day of the game. Is this true?

  6. Alex should be out on the ice when the opponent pulls their goalie for a sixth attacker late. Yes you want your best checking forwards out there (Clark, Gordon), and defensemen (Morrisson, Jurcina) but part of the process of defending in that situation is to put the game away by getting the empty net goal, and who better than the guy who has led the NHL in shots on goal the past 2 years. Obvoiously he knows where the net is and will hit it if he gets a chance.

It also means opponents while focusing on attacking the Caps net also need to keep in their minds the sniper on the defense.

It was inspired move by the coaches and it really paid off. Kudos to them!

  7. Ted – we were right in front of your box (101T) – I wish I had Goat’s voice, that’s for sure. The crowd was pathetic, but at least we weren’t overrun with Tampa fans. Looking forward to many more games like last night – they guys looked pretty darn good.

  8. Well, it may have been the smallest crowd, but when I got there I was told that the $10 seats were sold out. Bad news for me, since I am on a tight budget and had to go home, but I was pleasantly surprised for the team to hear that the $10 tickets were gone. I was also happy to be able to watch the win at home.
