That Wasn’t Fun

I watched the game. The Pats are clearly one of the two best teams in the NFL by a wide margin. The Skins are decimated by injuries and the Pats are a team in the zone, playing their best football led by one of the all time great QBs in Tom Brady.

I am sure one day there will be payback for going for it several times on 4th down when the team is up by 40 plus points. The Patriots are a great team. Next week’s game against the Colts will be a classic and we will be watching two future Hall of Fame QBs duel it out.

  1. Get real, Ted. The only organizatyion that should be embarrassed is the Redskins for playing like high schoolers. When the Sabres were pouring it on with 6 gaols in the first period last season, should they have stopped trying? This the pros. Unfortunately there was only professional team out there on Sunday.

  2. Ted, you’re not going to start whining about the Pats running up the score, are you? This isn’t USC against the Sisters of the Poor. The Redskins are a pro team and if they don’t want NE scoring on them, here’s a tip- DON’T LET THEM! This crying about point totals makes us look pathetic, kind of like Gibbs going for an onside kick when he’s down by 45 points.

  3. To say “the Pats running up the score was a bit classless” is a generic excuse for a bad loss by the Skins. Is there some sort of NFL mercy rule I don’t know about? Are the Skins responsible for a poor performance? Why are the Pats at fault?

You seem like an optimistic guy who usually has a unique perspective on things but with this statement you sound like an upset fan and a poor loser.

You should see and appreciate that the Patriots are shooting for perfection and to do that you play hard for the entire game. If they are ahead by 30 and want to practice some plays so be it. The majority of people enjoyed watching Tom Brady play as much as possible.

And lets not forget everyone questioning how good the Pats are without videotaping opponents. Everyone vilified them and questioned their Super Bowl victories. They are silencing their critics and they are justified in doing so.

  4. Ted, I don’t normally post comments to your blog, but I’m glad you said something about this. I felt the Patriots displayed a clear lack of sportsmanship and class, and it’s time someone took them to task, even if it wasn’t as scathing as the deserve. And to think I used to root for them simply because I thought they an organization that won by doing the right thing. I don’t even think I could root for them against the Cowboys in the future, and that’s saying something!

  5. How long can one use injuries as an excuse. Skins were outcoached and outplayed as usual. The Redskins allowed the Pats to run up the score. The Redskins should take responsibility for that. Our city seems to have one good, solid professional coach, and that is Eddie Jordan of the Wizards.

  6. My daughter (age 19) was so angry about the game, and griping about it. I had to remind her that they don’t give you extra losses for losing 52-7, just like the Pats don’t get extra wins for that margin.

The Pats are a better team than everyone, including the Colts (they should win this coming Sunday). Everyone else in the NFL is playing for 3rd place.

It must be fun to be a Boston fan (like my dad). The Sox won the series, BC is #2 in the NCAA, the Pats are destroying every opponent, the Bruins…

Ok so it’s not a perfect world. In the sport that matters most, in the end, Boston is likely to be an also-ran (unlike the Caps).
