Jason rose to the occasion and his work will be used as an example of what real time blogging can do to add to the conversation around a big subject as sad as it might be.

I use the messaging service a bit although I still prefer instant messaging and email. I am getting a bit burnt out though by all of the applications that seem repetitive to me. I await new killer apps that are utilities on the service. Most of the people on Facebook have been friendly to me. I have only deleted two wall postings to date and the conversations have been upbeat, honest and straightforward. I am a happy constituent of this thriving and growing community.

Jason La Canfora waxes poetic today on this tragedy. I would just go to his blog for up to the minute news on what is happening to the community and the Redskins reaction to this tragic loss of life.

We all express our deepest sympathies to the Sean Taylor family and to the Washington Redskins community. Sadly, random violence strikes everywhere and we have lost a great athlete, a father, a son and a member of our local sports team brethren. We will pray for his soul and hope that the individuals responsible for this senseless act are brought to justice.

On Thursday, I happened to catch an event – broadcast on C-SPAN – from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library where Mrs. Eunice Shriver was honored for her years of service to our country. At the end of the event, she gave a speech and the message was clear as a bell: service, volunteerism and family virtues are what is important in life.

 Mrs. Shriver looked frail but her spirit was gigantic and strong. If you can believe it, even though she had been hospitalized weeks earlier in the month, she traveled to China for her beloved Special Olympics. Mrs. Shriver has done more good work than any other woman in our country’s history. Her selfless love of mankind and her hard work for those people who are less fortunate and who may be mentally challenged will go down in history as an example of doing the right things in the right way. Mrs. Shriver is perhaps the best role model of any person who I have ever met. My wife and children admire her so much and in fact, both my son and my daughter have said that she is the living person that they admire most in life. I pray for a speedy recovery for Mrs. Shriver and I am praying in support for her family.
