Check out the embedded video for a story on the blogosphere regarding the NHL. As I said but wasn’t quoted in this article "There are 71 million or so blogs out there. Why are we even debating whether this phenomenon is real or here to stay? Blogging and new media are like oxygen. Get used to it".

We Need The Rest
I am very happy that we now have a couple of days to catch up and rest and get our wits about us. That was a tough grind of a schedule with a new coach and a new system to implement on the fly. We are starting to play better hockey. Since our coaching change we are playing much more productively with a 2-1 record in our first three games and a 1-1-1 record (500) in this last three game segment.
We now have off until Friday where we play NJ on the road in their new building followed by a Saturday game at home and a Monday game at home. I have mixed feelings about the last three games. I thought we played very poorly against Florida at home for 30 minutes and then I thought we played very well for the last 30 minutes. We earned a point via the tie game and then lost in an 11 round shootout. We then played dominate hockey in Carolina on Friday. We were clearly the better team but bad bounces and tough officiating calls went against us and we lost another one goal game. Saturday night, we played very well by outworking and out shooting Florida to get two points so a 500 record in the last three games with two games back-to-back on the road. We made progress but obviously we have quite a hole to dig ourselves out of to climb back into the race. We are four to five games out of a playoff spot right now with a lot of teams ahead of us but with a lot of games left to play. Once again, I believe we have lost nine or 10 one goal games this season. As badly as we have played, the difference between winning and being very competitive for us is quite small. I expect us to play aggressive, more dominate hockey. I want to see us take the pace of play to the other team and I want to see our offense get untracked. We lose too many one goal games and our defense and goal tending deserve better fates than they have been seeing this season. I also wish us better health. It seems that every time we gain a player back from IR, we lose two more to injuries. Thank you for your patience and for your support of our new coach. I hope to see you at Kettler Capitals Iceplex this week and then at the games on Saturday and Monday. We need to look at the season in three game increments from here on out. Wish us well. Go Caps!
