NY Times on Filmanthropy and Nanking

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

Here is a story from today’s NY Times on filmanthropy and our film which opens on Wednesday in a limited engagement in NYC. I just completed a press tour for the film and am amazed at the interest this movie has generated from media and critics.

Another One Goal Loss And a Sweet Home Win

I thought we played OK on Friday. NJ is such a systems based team and they didn’t waiver in their defensive schemas and continued on their roll beating us by a goal. They are healthy, confident and look like a playoff team having won nine in a row now after a very tough start to the season.

I thought we played OK on Friday. NJ is such a systems based team and they didn’t waiver in their defensive schemas and continued on their roll beating us by a goal. They are healthy, confident and look like a playoff team having won nine in a row now after a very tough start to the season.  It was terrific to see Alexander Semin back on the ice and playing well. He has gotten most of his timing back and his goal was a thing of beauty. It was sad to not see Chris Clark, Boyd Gordon or Michael Nylander on the ice but I was pleased by the energy that several Hershey replacement players provided us. Losing another one goal game is painful and I thought our coach said exactly the right things after the game about accountability and not using injuries as an excuse for losing a one goal game. Last night at Verizon Center was a lot more fun. We played the forecheck well. We played with energy and intensity. The crowd was loud and into it - the lower deck even started a wave - and many in the crowd of more than 14,500 people were mocking Bobby Holik for his comments after the last game even though he did score his third goal of the season last night. We scored six goals and the fans were chanting, "We want wings! We want wings!" referring to our new co-promotion with the great folks from Austin Grill. It reminded me of the old chants of "Pizza - Pizza!" That sure felt good and brought back sweet memories to me. The marketing manager of Austin Grill even called the radio station after the game and encouraged people who have ticket stubs to come on in today and take advantage of their great offer! This is our first four game home stand of the season. We play Monday, Wednesday and Friday at home and then travel to Tampa on Saturday. Six games in eight days is a grueling schedule but a very important time for our team. Wish us well.

Here is information on Nanking and its exclusive debut at the Film Forum theater. A couple of shows are already sold out but I would appreciate it if you would buy some tickets and check out the film. Let me know what you think. Thank you so much.
