Check out Detroit’s standing points - its goals for and its goals against. Wow. This is a great team and a great franchise. Monday night’s game will be our toughest road test after a nice win in Tampa on Saturday night. I was disappointed in how we lost at home on Friday night. Those were two points for us, ready for the taking. And as we slowly climb back into the race, every game is key for us. It is hard to believe that we have a better winning percentage as of today on the road compared to our home record. That is atypical Caps hockey.

I am very happy with our progress under our new coach and I am hopeful that we can get healthy and play as a unit and with heart in the days ahead. We need to get some key players jump started and contributing but we are making progress after digging ourselves quite a hole in the standings during the first two months of the season.

I’m loving watching the Caps play with this passion and intensity. I haven’t really seen Eminger lately though. Is everything okay with him?
Detroit is a rock-solid team, but if I recall, the last time the Caps went up there, they came away with a win. Who says that can’t happen again?
The good news is that over the weekend the Caps have begun to pass teams, moving past LA to get out of the cellar of the NHL overall. Next ahead of them: Atlanta. A good solid run in the next 10 games, and the Caps could be breathing down the back of Carolina and the division lead!
Blah blah the Red Wings are at the top of the standings blah blah best record in the league. I submit to you that the Hershey Bears would hold a solid record if they played in a division with St. Louis, a totally dismantled Nashville, Chicago (even with the WonderTwins), and Columbus.
That’s why the ‘Wings always have the best record in the league AND an early exit from the playoffs. The Caps did the same thing for a couple years when they moved to the Southeast with three expansion teams…
