I think this price increase is fair. I will pay it. The Washington Post certainly gives us all kind of value on a daily basis.

Those of us who live outside the district are already paying (in some places) .75 for the Post and $2 on Sundays.
This is the main reason I only read the Post and all other papers online these days.
Declining circulation and advertising revenues…. if you are coming out of college now you turn to the internet for your ‘sound bites’ of news..
Now people are ‘reading’ on the internet, but it’s not the same… for example I subscribe to Investors Business Daily. I hardly get 25% of the same information on line (away on business or vacation) than I get reading the hard copy (which is my option to get) You just see more of it with hard copy.
It is not unlike seeing a game in person or on the boob tube… not to mention that the boob tube also can ‘focus’ your content… so you see more of what they want you to see… i.e content they want to focus on, or talk about…
I guess I am an oldie but a goodie.
I still have the Post delivered to my home 7 days a week and see no reason to ever change. I grew up reading the newspaper every morning and can’t imagine a morning without.
I’m thinking newstand buys aren’t going to change a bit. It’s still two coins, and so few think about the value of cents nowadays. The only deterrent would have been inconvenience (three coins). As long as it’s cheap and easy to buy, it won’t effect them too much on the newstand. Smart move IMO, including keeping the home subscription price the same.
In the words of the famous outraged SI subscriber, “Cancel my subscription.”
