  1. As a former sports editor who has done my share of hiring over the years, the comments surprised me, too. Of course when you’re the paper in question, you assume that talent is replaceable at your price because you are who you are. If the reporter works for you, he or she must be topnotch by definition. I think that’s arrogant, but maybe the editor in question now knows what it feels like to compete without the same resources.

  2. Cool article and another reason blogs and the next generation of media will continue to gain traction. Conventional mass media will only really embrace “new media” when traditional players, like the Washington Post, can’t keep up with transitional players like ESPN.That will accellerate the growth and acceptance of interactive media such as blogs over the transitional current electronic media. Nice post and cool info. Mr. Leonisis. Thanks for it and the great things you, your foundations and your teams do for the DC Metro area.

  3. The really sad part is that so many newspapers completely punted on their online sports sections and never realized what a value they could be. Now they’re learning albeit too late.
