Funny Aha Moments

Yesterday I saw an iPhone ad on network television. The ad highlighted a demo on how to receive stock quotes on the iPhone and the stock symbol that was highlighted was GOOG (Google) and it showed a $510 stock price. I was online and I checked GOOG and its price as of Friday. Google stock closed the week at $702. I thought

  1. What blessings and fortune! The memory of you will live long thru your work and charity. I would that at least one of my children be put in a position wherefrom such a benefit might be incurred. And should that come to pass, that there be the same sprit of determined charity. I lived in an El Paso project housing when I graduated from high school in 1973 and joined the Army a few months later. Competing demands kept me from completing my Liberal Arts Bachelors degree until May 2005, 6 months from my 50th birthday, from the school from which my mother retired after 30 years of cleaning up the UTEP Liberal Arts building. The irony creates in me a great sense of urgency to complete a variety of life tasks that are much simpler than Ted’s but just as dear to me. Most of all, I would like to see both of my children with Masters degrees, and doing some special work that is dear to them and that they enjoy. My best hope in doing that is to be an example–to emulate, to surpass, to remember.

I don’t know who made the most but I know I thank my lucky stars every day for the time I spent at AOL. 5 years of hard works from the age of 24 to the age of 29 and I was lucky enough to walk away with over $10,000,000 after taxes.   4. Ah, but McDonald’s had more time to make millionaires. It would be interesting to see a graphical comparison from the birth of the newest company. I think that might be more indicative of impact and perhaps futures. Each has global value–on in retail, and the others, online. I rememher when their hamburgers were only the ones in the Happy Meal, and I remember when Jack was who waited on us in the drive thru! :)
