Playing Well Against Very Good Teams

In the last few weeks we have played Ottawa twice, Detroit once as well as Pittsburgh. I believe we deserved to be undefeated during this stretch of games against very good teams as we outplayed all of them. There were eight points to be had in these four games. We garnered six of them losing once in OT and once in a shootout.

Here is what I think is happening: Many teams in the league don

  1. Once Hanlon was fired, I hoped and prayed this would be the turning point to save what’s left of the Caps’ season.

I was at his last game as coach, and was one of the many fans booing the Capitals off the ice after yet another loss. The train ride home was silent, and my hopes for a playoff bound season were shattered.

Fast forward 6 weeks to today.

I love what I’m seeing. I’m wanting more. I wear my Ovechkin jersey with pride because we as fans are lucky enough to watch him play here locally. If they keep this up, I definitely see a run near the end of the season.

  2. A great streak to be sure, and we’ll keep going. There’s too much talent on this team not to. And it’s starting to gel.

The division title is well within reach.

  3. Ottawa’s players need to know to not run their mouths. They’ve talked badly about the Caps before the last two games, then got completely shelled in both of them. Caps are playing a lot better lately, the rest of the SE is playing worse and the division lead is 6 points away (with a game in hand). I wrote the team off earlier in the year, but now they’re playing as I expected them to, and gaining points on the teams in front of them. I’m still not using the ‘p word,’ but that could change here shortly.

  4. Must admit, I have been very proud of this team over the past month and yesterday’s win was a great way to start 2008! Now let’s just resign OV so the fans on the message boards don’t have a heart attack.

  5. Ted-The guys seem to really believe in themselves and the wins are coming as a result. Keep up the great work. This can be a great hockey town!

  6. There was definitely a palpable indignance from the Senators on the ice yesterday as another game slipped away from them against the Capitals. At the end of the first, they were totally out of control angry. Their enforcer earned a draw with Brashear, and that was the highlight of their day.

Just as palpable was the satisfaction in the stands of seeing a team that seems to be getting it together in a big way. Here’s hoping the train keeps rolling!

    Let’s go Caps!

  7. I loved being at the game yesterday. I like many fans was worried when Ottawa went up 2-0 on poor D play by us but I loved how this team came back and won in a convincing matter. Lets hope this is the norm for this team in 2008 because it has the potential.

  8. Mr. Leonsis & Caps,

Keep up the good work! I listened to the game online. It was a great game and another great win!!
