Congrats to the Nominees

I am very happy that so many great films were picked to be nominated for this year’s Academy Award for documentary film. I am especially pleased that War Dance got a nod. Sean and Andrea Fine are a great and talented couple who live and work here in DC. ThinkFilm also had a great day as they had multiple nominations.

I am also very proud that Nanking was on the short list for consideration. We came up a bit short with the judges but I am happy that we were even considered amongst these great films that were nominated. Thank you to all of the people associated with Nanking. We are all proud of your creative efforts.

Sundance Day Four: Monday

What a long and exciting day. It started with a meeting with our international sales agent for Nanking. Then we went to a nice productive meeting with the folks from indieWIRE.

Then I had a meeting with the people of Sundance followed by a screening of a narrative film where I got to meet Quentin Tarantino. After that, it was on to the Caps game on Slingbox. What a game! Then I headed to a sales agent meeting for Kicking It. Next I attended a screening of Kicking It with a great Q&A session afterwards. We capped the day with a fabulous dinner party thrown by Washington Life at Harry O’s. The chefs and new owners from Teatro Goldoni from Washington, DC, were just spectacular and treated us so well. Finally, we headed to a VIP room at Tao’s to have some fun. I am exhausted but very happy.

Trifecta

What a great day for local sports. The Wizards beat Dallas at home in front of a sellout crowd. Georgetown beat Syracuse at home in front of a sellout crowd and the Caps beat the Penguins in a shootout in Pittsburgh. Three tough wins all against big rivals and big time competition. It sure feels good, doesn’t it?
