I Love Michael Wilbon
Everything about him. He is cuddly. He is smart. He is entertaining. And he still writes good stuff. He looks good, too, now on TV. I wish him the best in health and for him to embrace his success. He is the man.
BUT I had to laugh about his issues with bloggers and making stuff up or mailing it in as his sidekick and BFF, Tony Kornheiser, is the king of the "making it up and throwing it out there" media. Shoe on The Other Foot
I had a very interesting phone call with a senior level executive at a NHL team who said to me, “Can you believe that you drafted Alex Ovechkin, Jeff Schultz and Mike Green in the same year at the draft in 2004?”
I had a very interesting phone call with a senior level executive at a NHL team who said to me, "Can you believe that you drafted Alex Ovechkin, Jeff Schultz and Mike Green in the same year at the draft in 2004?" He told me that several GMs had to explain why they didn’t pick Schultz with the 27th pick in the draft or Mike Green, who leads all NHL D men in goals, with the 29th pick in the draft. Mark Fistric, D of Dallas, was picked one spot before Mike Green in case you were wondering. Both Schultz and Green were noted by this exec to be top 4 D men in the NHL for many, many years to come. It was nice to participate in a call like that and that sure was a productive draft for us. And I guess that first pick of Alex Ovechkin turned out OK too.
Good News For Versus
Ratings and viewers are up for the NHL All-Star game. Good news and it bests MTV-like ratings in prime time on cable to put it in perspective.
