  1. Agreed Ted. A loss is a loss. The only silver lining here, is that our boys just got brought back down to Earth by getting shutout. They will work 3x as hard tonight and not take any one on one encounter for granted.

  2. Agreed… and I think they’ll do better tonight. The loss in Montreal was caused by a bunch of things all going wrong at once:

    1) Bad games from several defensemen: Erskine, Schultz and Jurcina all looked lost out there, while Green had some slip-ups too. Poti had a very solid game, but the Caps need all the D to have solid games (or better) the rest of the way.

    2) The officiating was biased. Joe B pointed out on the telecast that three of the four officials in the game were French Canadian, and the 4th, though and Anglophone, was also from Quebec…I don’t want to say they’re biased, but they missed 2 high-sticking calls by the Habs

    3) Cristobal Huet was amazing in goal. He stopped 35 shots, some of them that on most nights, most goaltenders let in.

Honestly, even without the missed calls or bad D we likely would have lost that game due to Huet’s play. He was outstanding. Johnny played very well, but the defense was miserable (40 shots on goal against and it seemed like more.)

  3. Right on Ted. I’m bringing an extra set of lungs to cheer them on tonight! If they can’t get motivated to win this game, then it may be a long rest of the season. I’m hopeful they can. I’m sure they feel the pressure.

That may or may not be a good thing. We’ll see tonight!

  4. please don’t reference Al Davis. Just look at the joke the Raiders franchise has become over the last 10 years. NOBODY wants the head coaching job there these days. That’s why they bring back guys like Art Shell. LOL!

  5. I completely agree Ted. The best remedy for a loss is to come back and win the next one. Especially if its against the same team.

P.S.- Great signings w/ Alex, Greenie, and Brashear.
