I’ll Say…

So I left my house at 8:00 am to take a 10:00 am shuttle to NYC. I got to the airport at 9:00 am; checked in; and boarded the plane at 9:45 am. We left the gate, got to the tarmac and there we sat delayed. At 11:30 am, the plane went back to the gate and let us all off the plane. The airline cancelled the next two flights to NYC and I returned home. And here I am, over four hours later, emailing people and calling folks in NYC to explain why I have to call into the meetings today. Arrgghhh!

  1. It’s insane to fly from Washington to New York in the first place – any time saved in the air will be more than lost on the ground (ground transportation, airport security etc). When I go there, it’s always Amtrak for me.

  2. Try AmTrak’s Excella (sp?)Midtown in 3 hours, quiet car, decent coffee. All the best!

  3. And now, it’s 12:38 AM. And you own a hockey team that’s in first place.

You are one lucky son of a gun, sir.

  4. Next time, take the train. Amtrak to NYC is the one of the best deals going, even in coach. Good comfortable seats, faster than flying, usually cheaper, plugs for laptops, and usually on time. What a concept!

  5. Note to Ted: “Acela” is more than just the name of the restaurant at Verizon Center — it is a high speed train service that would have gotten you there in plenty of time!

Having signed Ovechkin to a long-term contract, however, you can do no wrong in my book. Go CAPS!

  6. Take the Acela when you have to go to NYC. No security queues and you get there sooner if you’re going to Midtown.

  7. Hi Ted. Heard you on the radio yesterday commenting on Netscape. Can’t believe you have become such a mucky-muck. Congrats to you! Long way from Alban Towers.

  8. What about your jet, ted? or the Acela? Why are you flying commercial to New York City? C’mon!!
