Mike Green as a 23-year-old D man has as many goals as Jaromir Jagr, a forward. Who would have predicted that fact at this point in the season?

I watched the Panthers vs. Sabres game last night on DirecTV. I was interested in the outcome because of Florida’s position in the standings. When Richard was cut, nothing else mattered but his recovery. I flashed back to the Jamie Heward incident last season when we played the Dallas Stars. I hope Richard has a speedy recovery and we all wish Richard and his family the best. We are all part of a NHL family and when someone hurts like this, we all hurt.

And you did – again, again and again – in record numbers. You did it for free tickets, bobble heads and mostly because you care. Thank you so much.

That was fun! An overtime win over the NY Rangers and we go back into first place in the division with a game still in hand on a few of our rivals.  I thought our goaltending was sensational as was our penalty kill. The Rangers were zero for six on the power play. I also had to smile at our OT lineup – Semin, Ovechkin, Green and Backstrom – no player older than 24 years old. I also noted that Jaromir Jagr, while still a great and dangerous player, has only 15 goals in 59 games while Alex Ovechkin now has 47 goals in 57 games and Alex Semin has 14 goals in only 38 games played. As I said, youth must be served. We had a giant crowd yesterday. Thank you. And thank you to the NY Rangers fan that came up to me after the game, shook my hand and said, "Well done. You are the next great team. Congratulations." That was very classy.
