We are moving on up, now we are 23rd in the NHL in "Paid" admission, the category that truly matters above many big named teams. We are also now ranked 15th in the NHL in terms of "giveaways". We only give away about 1,000 tickets per game, compared to a league leader who gives away more than 2,800 per game. To get to 15th in the NHL in paid attendance, we only need to average about 900 additional paid admissions per game so we are quickly closing in on reaching one of our big goals. We are up almost 18% - year over year - in paid admissions so this is good news. We are a Top 3 growth team in this category in the NHL.

Just fantastic. Fans are becoming truly connected with this team — yet another strong positive externality of building a consistently good club through the draft.
Well done Ted, and may the best days be ahead for the Caps organization and its fans!
Ted–A sellout was announced for the New Jersey game, yet clublevel had easily 500 empty seats, and I doubt they were all no shows. Do the caps announce a sellout when just 100 and 400 level sells out?
P.S. I have a strong hunch the panthers are the giveaway leader
Ted,
This is excellent news. I’m sure that this upward trend will continue for the remainder of the season.
Ted, I think the casual caps fans are being drawn in by a young exciting team and what they could become. And isn’t attendance always higher anyway after the football season ends?
I remember in the 80’s when the caps had great teams the sellouts wouldn’t start happening until the 2nd half then anyway..
Onwards and upwards… and let’s fill the seats with Caps fans (no more “Sell Outs” where there are all these Penguin, Flyer, Ranger or Red Wing fans….
I’m still mad at Abe Pollin for selling thousands of tickets to travel agencies in Detroit in 1998 when the Caps were in the finals. The place would have filled up with Cap fans…
Mike L, as always, you are right on the $ !!
Re: Dan 2:01 pm — Caps seats are only the 100 and 400 levels. The Wizards sell the 200-Club Level for all games.
It’s simple, and it’s always been simple. Win and they will come. You’re winning and they are coming. I’m very happy on both counts.
Winning team = serious cash moneys
TED WHO CARES…YOU GOT GOOD TRADES AND ARE SHOWING THE BRASS
TO MAKE A RUN! THATS WHAT WE WANNA SEE!
Teddy,
Like I said Tuesday night to you..check, check, check that was a great blog.
