The Caps vs. Pens ratings boomed to a 2.3 rating. That is a 229% increase over last season’s regular season games.

  1. Ovy’s popular in canada its the league that over does the whole crosby thing

  2. Why not try having the Pens games at Verizon during the weekday, it should still pack in Caps fans but should discourage those traveling from PA a little bit, I would think. The last two games here where a Sat night and a Sunday afternoon, perfect for road trips. Just a thought, go Caps!

  3. I’m really trying to hold back my negative flood-gates here.

    Wait.

    Can’t hold….

I’m sure the “powers that be” will chalk it up to Sidney and Malkin, instead of people wanting to see Ovy and the Caps.

And, I’m soooooooo happy the Caps will leave that 2.3 crowd with such a good memory. Uuugggghhhhhh!!!!!

  4. I watched every minute of it. It was nice to be able to see the Caps play, all the way down here in FL.

  5. Well, the Caps and Pens are exciting teams to watch…the Caps moreso than the Pens. :)

  6. Ted, I am so upset at the announcers of the NBC coverage of the Pens/Caps games. They are so one sided and so pro Sydney crosby and the Penguins it makes me sick. Same thing as last year. The hurried interveiw with Sid right before the face off at games start set the tone for the lopsided coverage. I know I am not the only one who hears this crap. Boy I can’t wait till we get our respect from those so called pro announcers at NBC. Biggest Cap fan in PA.

  7. Finally…hopefully they will put more hockey on instead of all that garbage they put on TV

  8. loved the 12:30 start, had the rest of the day to do stuff. guessing one a year of these pit/wash games is going to show up every year on nbc, on on vs and one on hnic

  9. Ted: speaking of NBC, please make sure Backstrom sees that clip of that jerk Crosby’s mocking laughter after Nick’s own goal. And tell him to remember…………

  10. Yeah, I’m sick to death of seeking Crosby’s ugly mug (and he’s only been back two weeks). What the NHL doesn’t seem to get yet is that OVECHKIN is the more popular player in the USA. Crosby will always be the more popular in Canada, but Ovechkin is the guy in this country (and the rest of the world outside of Canada).

  11. While it’s good ratings are up, the Airing of the CAPS vs Penguins was still the lowest rated Sports program on OTA networks yesterday.

There is still work to be done, but it’s looking promising!!!

  12. Ted, not sure how else to get fan’s feelings to players, but I hope Backstrom knows the fans love him and are behind him no matter a mishap.

Yesterday was a great game and NBC should continue to take notice of the Caps.
