Gotta Regroup

We need to travel safely to Atlanta and win on Friday. Then the first leg of the road trip we would end up with two wins and one loss.

Then we need to face the next leg of the road trip starting Tuesday against Carolina as a game by game must win situation. We can’t look past Atlanta. We need to close out this week with a win. Last night wasn’t fun. It was a stinker. We just need to put it past us, focus on Friday and get back to work.

  1. Every team has a bad night occasionally, even Detroit. Too bad the Caps started out so poorly this season. 3-4 more wins then, and we would be protecting that third seed instead of trying to sneak in. I guess it’s a good sign that the fans start to panic after one bad outing… I haven’t seen that in a few years. I think the guys will take it out on Atlanta tomorrow.

Ted, you have built an incredible team. Hopefully we can squeak in this year, but next year is going to be awesome.

    Thanks!

  2. The only comment I would make is that Kolzig should have been pulled after the 3rd goal.

Yes the team was flat, but sometimes pulling a goalie can get them fired up again – and why didn’t Brashear mix it up – nobody easy to pummell ie – Lang wouldn’t go him??

  3. I agree. No need to panic it’s one game. The goal of 2 of 3 on the first set would be achieved if they beat Atlanta on Thursday. If we finish road trip 4-2 i like our chances of making playoffs.

I’m just another opinion but i wouldn’t mind seeing Huet playing every game until the end of regular season. I think we all appreciate Kolzig and what he’s done for the Caps organization but i think Huet should get the nod unless he is tired.

It just seems he can make the incredible save and sometimes you gotta have your goaltender keep you in a tight 1-0 2-1 type game. Not saying it would have mattered last night.

I think Huet should start every game the rest of the way. Just my opinion.

    Go Caps!

  4. This is not solely about a bad game. Carolina rebounded from a 6-0 deficit because they have a roster full of experienced players and many with Stanley Cup rings. What we need is someone in the locker room to really step up and tell the guys to stop playing scared and defensive. That is not what got us here. They need to forget about the standings and not worry about this year. Just go out and play. You can see the tension in the last 5 periods of play. Just go out ,have fun, and stop worrying about all media, and mvp talk, and playoffs, etc. This team in clearly one of the top ten teams in the nhl but this hockey right now is not like the first 70 games. Time to stop thinking and start playing. I would rather us go out guns blazing losing 6-5 then playing scared. This is going to be valuable experience the next couple weeks. Ovie cannot do i all by himself. Time for the older guys, while only a few, to settle everyone down, and just go out and play the way you have played for 4 months. We will forgive you if you don’t make the playoffs, so stop thinking about it and GO HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. What in the world? Guess the guys were just trying to add a little drama to their playoff push. They’re just working on making their ultimate success that much more heroic. Or something.

  6. What the heck happened last night? Oy.

Ah well, we need to refocus and take out the frustrations on the Thrashers and put them out of their misery…

  7. What happened last night? Nothing was coming together. The problem that everyone outside of the DC area is saying about the caps is summarized by one word, “inconsistent”. The rest of the stretch the fans want nothing but wins.
