Ugh

I read a great article in this week’s Sports Illustrated about the coach of Georgetown men’s basketball program, John Thompson III, and his philosophy of taking care of the little things and worrying about execution game by game. His philosophy was spot on but, sad to say, the players didn’t step up and Georgetown is now out of the tournament.

His philosophy was spot on but, sad to say, the players didn’t step up and Georgetown is now out of the tournament. Twenty unforced turnovers; terrible free throw shooting; our senior year big man on the bench in foul trouble (only scoring six points); and losing a huge lead in the second half wasn

  1. As a fellow Hoya, Ted, I have to respectfully and forcefully disagree with your last statement. Davidson was not the better team.

From the min, Curry hit every news reports eye Saturday morning, the officials were drooling at Curry even before he stepped on the floor. Every time he so much as glanced at the ball he got to the charity line. It seems we were getting penalized for being bigger. Sure Roy may have “elbowed” some guy in his post move, but geez what can he do when the guy guarding him is 1 foot shorter. Or their guards are 100 lbs lighter and to fall over on the slightest contact.

I believe a better statement would be the cliché, “We lost that game, they did not win it.” Hoya Saxa…….

  2. You will look back in a few years and realize that you just got beat by the best PLAYER on the floor. Ask the Terps how they felt about 10 years ago when some little guy named Steve Nash too them apart in the tournament. He took over the game and there was nothing you could do. That guy is a budding superstar.

  3. One day folks will realize that these so-called Mid-Majors are actually very strong teams, and with the NCAA limiting the number of scholarships for Mens Hoops, these programs will only get stronger. There was one point this year that Robert Morris was in the top 25, and Butler spent time in the Top 25. Davidson did play a better game, but they are probably one of the top 20 teams in the nation. They were underseeded and it showed.
