  1. A little perspective:

The thread was made after the second period versus Atlanta. At that point in the season, we’d yet to complete a third period comeback.

  2. Quick had residual anger from having to school someone at beer pong over insulting his mom. It happens. Cut him some slack.

  3. Hey now, as the creator of that thread, all I can say is I was VEEEERY happy to eat crow after the team pulled off that amazing comeback.

What can I say, its easy to become emotional when you cheer for a team through thick and thin 82 games a season year after year. :-)

  4. It’s an emotional game and we’re emotional fans.

If a scrum breaks out after the whistle, it will finally settle down. Caps fans are a lot like that too. We throw things, and cheer and get upset when we see things we don’t like. But we also applaud the things that we do like.

  5. Keep it up! GO CAPS! Nice to see the whole team stepping up!

Now if only Phily & Boston could drop a game or 2!

  6. If those people were real fans, they’d be at the games instead of sitting there and not watching on TV because they’re so busy typing out their 38 pages worth of useless crap on game days. Some of us have had the faith all along, and will keep having it even if the boys fall short this year.

  7. Caps’ fandom doesn’t exist in a vacuum. I cheer and yell and become emotionally invested — especially right now. I watch my son live and die with each shot and save as only a 9-yr-old can and remember what it was like when I watched Guy Charron and Bugsy Watson play when I was a kid.

As a longtime Caps’ fan I’ve developed some serious scar tissue. I want to see them win, but I’m afraid to put to invest too much into it emotionally. Will I get hurt again?

I don’t know. Caps — heal me! Help me to love again!

  8. Geez, and those guys are supposed to be Caps FANS?? Would hate to see them if they actually rooted against us!

  9. My response to that thread was this and it really rings true….

All the Caps fans on the board want so badly for this team to pull this off and make the playoffs. Emotions hinge on each goal in each game for or against. Its been like this every since the Caps fought their way back into this thing. When people say negative statements I think its more out of frustration than actually giving up. No true fan will give up until the team is mathmatically done. However, when you want something so bad, as Caps fans want the team to make it, frustration makes you say things sometimes in the heat of the moment.

I will use myself for example. I took my kids to the circus last night so I couldn’t see the game but I was checking the scores like every 5 minutes on my cell. When the Caps went up 1-0 the clowns were funny and the acts were awesome. When the Caps went down 3-1 the clowns suddenly were bums that I wanted to pelt with a snow cone and the acts crapped. Then when the Caps won I wanted to throw dollar bills at the clowns and the acts once again were the “Greatest Show On Earth”.

Ahhhh the life of a Caps fan.

  10. honestly Ted… F the message board.. a majority of the neh-sayers are not fans that even go to the games. the excuse “if they won more.. I would go” is complete BS.. Take these posts on the boards as serious as political statements made by hollywood actors….. Season is NOT over yet!!

  11. Ted, if my Sabres don’t make it into the playoffs, I am going to be rooting for the Caps to go all the way! It has been such a joy to watch the rebirth of the team this year.

  12. Are we getting 19k Don’t Stop Believin’ Go Caps red T-shirts for for playoff home opener?

  13. Wow…I can’t believe our “fans” would turn on the team like that and get so negative after one bad period. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. I love how they were writing as if they are hockey experts early in the thread, only to be made to look completely foolish by the end.

  14. I emailed you the day after the Penguins loss when it was all doom and gloom and you said “thanks for the support but don’t count us out yet”. It seemed overly optimistic at the time but I am ecstatic that I was wrong. Go Caps!!!
