The Caps are my new black! I had already decided to do what this article suggested as soon as my team was elimineated from the playoffs! I hope the Caps go far!
@Dave – it just means that the Caps are the new “in” thing… black is timeless, so in fashion, you’re always hearing oddness like, “Red is the new Black”, or “Brown is the new Black”, from folks trying to push the latest trend.
It sounds negative, but it really isn’t in the case of this article.

In fashion, black has always been the “in” color. Every year some color gets anointed as “the new black.” A couple of years ago, designers were showing a lot of brown and so brown was “the new black”. Another year it was pink. So, what he is saying is that the Caps are the new hot thing in hockey. And that is very cool.
