Is there no knowledgeable hockey announcer available who, by contrast with Milbury, is an NHL alum, is reasonably intelligent and who managed to play quality professional hockey WITHOUT charging into the stands to beat up fans during a game the way Milbury once did?
I agree with Alan. If you are working as an “analyst” for a major network, some degree of professionalism should be expected.
Mad Mike is a joke. Look at his history as a GM. The guy just proves himself over and over again to be a complete dunce.
This isn’t a matter of thick skin, it is a matter of professional competence. The idea was to EXPAND the NHL fan base and dumping on a franchise is unhelpful. Moreover his duplicitous explanation reveals a lack of character. His comments about the Caps were about as relevant as mentioning that your Red Wings are play in a murder capital whose Mayor, well . . . equally inappropriate.
Yeah Bruce, PLEASE show that to Alex!
NBC Telecast is horrable at best to begin with. Lets try and stick to Joe B. and Laughlin.
Does anyone have thick skin anymore? Come on, does everyone have to apologize for everything? Its a bit juvenile but thats it. He didn’t mispeak either, give me a break. Stupid PC world we live in… What happened to sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me?
If i was a casual fan of another sport, say lacrosse or something, and i turned on the tv to watch a game, and the guy was insulting the best players and making fun of the teams name, how could i possibly take that sport seriously? You can comment constructively if you are trying to build an audience. What would happen if this was the kentucky derby and the announcer insulted the horses and made fun of their names? Would he be on anymore?
