This is an interesting piece on Happiness. It tries to connect the dots between affluence and happiness which I don’t buy totally but I do understand why wealthier countries would have higher levels of satisfied citizens.

People are most happy when they are in the process of accomplishing worthwhile goals. Richer nations, in particular the United States, provide the environment that allows this to occur. It’s called liberty and capitalism. Ain’t it great!
