I was watching the Pope’s Mass from Nationals Stadium this morning. At the end of the service, the Pope invited up to the alter the "lucky 50", a small group of local faithful to be served the holy wine and bread of the service by the Pope himself. Amongst the "lucky 50" were Raul and Jean Marie Fernandez. They are close friends and co-owners of the Caps within our Lincoln Holdings Partnership. As you can see, we are pulling out all of the stops for tonight’s game. And I also noted that the Pope and the Cardinals were all celebrating mass with a "red out" as well.
Ted, in Game 1, you had a priest in your box. Witness the results. Please make sure he is back for Game 5.

“From my 18th St. office in Northwest I walked a mere block to Pennsylvania Ave. a little before noon and caught Pope Benedict’s procession past tens of thousands of Washingtonians today. What magnificent weather for so moving a moment, and the turnout was staggering.
I had a superb view of the Pontiff, and as I seemed to catch his eye for a nano-second I silently asked for his intercession in (1) world strife and conflict and (2) a cleared Capitals’ crease.
I’m not one to reorient my priorities in vulgar fashion just because the playoffs have at long last arrived in D.C.”
