Washington Post Article at Philly Game

In an ultimate twist of irony, Mike Wise’s column from yesterday was published and put up on the big board in Philly to PUMP up their crowd. That has to be a first: a hometown paper’s column being used as fodder to ignite the passion of the other side.

Philadelphia’ fans are trash. Nothing but. There was discussion on the post-game radio show of some of them punching a nine year old boy who was cheering for the Caps. Pure scum.

After tuesday’s game I was threatened with more then the words rape and kill while heading through the parking lot. I’m glad we have more class in D.C. We are better fans for that alone. Not to mention the words that were chanted around me last night for ex Flyer Donald brashear. God I hope for hockey sake that this is only in Philadelphia. What happened to the Flyers fans of the 80’s who truely were intimidating and yet humane at the same time?

I’m a long time Caps fan and that article was uncalled for, regardless, of how some Philly fans act. Just what the Caps didn’t need, a stirred up Philly fan base. Gee, thanks, Mike Wise. Let’s go Caps!

Bring back the fake penalty box footage!

There are jerks in every fanbase, but Philly fans get a kick out of people complaining that they’re loud and obnoxious. If we want it to stop, we need to stop giving them the pleasure.

Right, and the DC fans are models of class and humanity, which is why it’s so much fun to go to a Redskins game where everyone is polite and sober and kind and a truly great sport.

Every time I go to Philadelphia I’m amazed at the honesty and friendliness of the people there.

The problem with Wise’s column and the one that appeared today is that they’re detached from what is actually happening. The Flyers aren’t beating up the poor young Capitals, they’re just outplaying them. The average age of both teams is 28. The Flyer doing most of the damage is Daniel Briere at 5′ 8″. Wise was whining and his column was ignorant. As playoff hockey goes, this has been a mild series.

It comes down to this. If you can’t beat them, pretend they’re cheating and insult their fans. It’s called being a sore loser.

Ted, your comment moderation (or whoever is doing it) is absurdly one-sided. Not everyone agrees with you, and that should be ok. Man up.

This won’t show, but I hope you take it to heart.

What horrible parent would bring a nine year old Caps fan to a Flyers game?

I’m willing to bet the puncher was also nine years old. Flyers fans are goony at birth.
