Less we forget, we had an incredible run and played with heart and determination. We played a seven game series and on the sidelines – wearing business suits - were a first line forward and our captain, Chris Clark; our veteran center, Michael Nylander; and two top four D men for us in Jeff Schultz and Brian Pothier. Injuries are a part of the game but we missed these vet players and look forward to their off-season recovery.
Thank you Ted for everything you have done this year. I would like to also thank George McPhee. Give that guy a raise. I hope we can keep olie, huet, federov, and cooke. One last thing. When will we retire Bondra. I was thinking we should retire him on opeining night which would go along with south east champs, and maybe someone else like Gartner. Just a thought. Thanks again for all you done and keep up the great work for the future.
Good news about Nylander. . .but plllllleeeeaaaasssse sign Fedorov
Thanks again Ted. It is good news with Nylander. He will help give the Caps three scoring lines next year (esp. if we can sign Fedorov, who seems to enjoy the fountain of youth he has found playing with the Alexes). If keep Sergei, then we have up front: Ovechkin, Backstrom, Semin, Kozlov, Fedorov, Laich, Clarke, Nylander, Fleischmann to make up scoring lines… and we still have Boyd Gordon, Donald, etc. Plus in his brief stints Chris Bourque looks like he’s ready, Quentin Laing played well in stretches… and there’s still the possiblity (and I’d welcome it) that we can sign both Cooke and Bradley who will be UFAs…
See, rather than a negative, I look at it as a positive. Doing as well as we did and having these guys on the sidelines speaks to the depth of the team that GMGM put together. The good teams have to have enough depth to substitute for the starters who may go down due to injury and still succeed. We’re so close, it’s only a matter of time. Good times.
Ted,
Thank you so very much ! We had a FANTASTIC time this year with our Washington Capitals. Enjoy the off season and we will see you next year.
