  1. The officiating in this year’s playoffs has been terrible. It seems like each series has had it’s share of incorrect and inconsistent calls. After the first round, and the introduction of the new “Thoresen Goalie Screen,” I decided to stop watching hockey until next season. Perhaps with a summer to plan, the NHL will be able to put a better-officiated product on the ice.

  2. Its not easy being an official in any sport and there is a reason. You need to position yourself correctly while fast moving action is unfolding. There is no excuse though for bone-headed calls or non-calls and for failing to take the time when needed and available to think and discuss, that at least gives the appearance that there is a good reason even if it betrays doubt (by the way, what is wrong with admitting your human). These guys are paid and paid pretty well to do this job; I, like many others I am sure, would trade places with an official in my favorite sport (baseball in my case) any day. Professionals have to do better, no matter how hard the job is that they have to perform.
