  1. Ted: That’s a fantastic clip! I was at the infamous Devils/Bruins playoff game twenty years ago at the Meadowlands when Jim Schoenfeld told Don Koharski what he thought of him and I still get a kick out of that Schoenfeld’s line. It was particularly painful then to see Koharski break my heart again at Game 7; I wanted to pull a Schoenfeld! As I continue to watch the playoffs, I think the refereeing has been pretty bad across the board. Looking forward to seeing Alzner in a Caps uniform in the fall!

  2. I loved your comments, in fact I also loved the article on Ovi’s website. I can’t tell you how bad I felt. Thank God, I had an opportunity to express my outrage. Had we lost it out right, it couldn’t have hurt more. We were the winner in every way. Glad the boys got to play in the Worlds. I think the rest of the playoff teams probably will also feel the Flyers need a dose of Manners and a shot of realism, not what officials have given them freely. Are officiels privy to how the players and fans handle loss?

  3. What I have always found interesting – the players must have their names on the back of the sweaters, but the officials do not. At one time they did, but for some reason it was taken off. I really feel they need to have their names back on so fans will remember officials and begin to recognize the whos-who. Just my $0.02

  4. It’s odd how if any player, coach or GM doesn’t deliver a world-class performance, they’re out of a job. But if an official does the same thing, the standard is somehow different.

Or maybe it’s just the parity in the league these days…bad calls in close games/series are certainly magnified.

  5. Ted, when is the NHL going to take steps to look at the officiating in the league??? Complaints (legitimate ones) have been coming for years- probably since the beginning of modern hockey!! If they want new viewers and fans to stay after the playoffs end then there needs to be consistency in games and more objective standards that fans can understand.

Also, what can coaches, GMs and owners do to change this? Are there penalties for teams voicing complaints about officiating in the media like there are in other sports??

  6. Better watch it Ted, Uncle Gary might slap you on the wrist with a fine :) I couldn’t agree more however!
