In answer to many of your emails: Yes, we are now most likely off the hook on the Jagr payments to the New York Rangers as I doubt he will be named MVP of the NHL playoffs now. I believe Jaromir Jagr is now an unrestricted free agent as his contract has ended. It is amazing how time flies - seven years - when you are having fun.

He did some sick things on the ice when he was in his prime with the Pens and he will end up in the Hall of Fame. Great talent yes, but a head case. I’ll give you props for trying to go for a Cup when you acquired him. But I was happy he was dealt when he was as it clearly wasn’t working here with him. Jaromir Jagr was like an RV. An owner is happy two days. The day you get it and the day you get rid of it.
You know, he might be worth looking at for a new contract…

Jagr as MVP of the playoffs? No way — but he was hanging in there. Leading scorer in the playoffs through the first two rounds.
Briere and Biron are in the running (ouch. wince.)
Jagr had some great moments while here, including a 7 point night vs. Florida, but in his 2 plus years here, the Caps made it to the playoffs only once, and got knocked out in round 1 by Tampa.
Much more was expected. Ah well, the money can now be used for better players (Mike Green, Alex Ovechkin, etc.)
