REM is Back

Accelerate is a great new set of music: 16 fast, upbeat, cool songs. And they are coming back to DC in June. I very much respect Michael Stipe as an artist and as a writer. The band is still relevant and this music is good. Welcome back.

  1. If you like Accelerate, you might also like a recent U.S. release by an Irish band called Bell X1 (pronounced “Bell X One”- not the roman numeral) called “Flock”.

  2. I’ve been a fan of REM since I first saw them in the winter of 1983 at the University of Rochester’s winter rock festival night. The venue was the Louis Alexander Palestra (capacity about 1,500), and REM was the opening act. Following them were 10,000 Maniacs (Where I discovered what an amazing talent Natalie Merchant is…) and the headline act was The English Beat (a ska/reggae band led by a very energetic and talented singer named Ranking Roger). Three terrific bands, who if you had the show today, would go on in reverse order!

    Indeed welcome back to REM!

  3. Couldn’t agree with you more. Have been able to listen to the album twice since getting it last week, but suspect it will grow on me even more.
