Reminds Me of Issues Around Opening AIM to Interoperability

Check out this article. Same issues, same optics and same concerns.

In hindsight, what would have been different for the industry had we opened AIM to interoperate with other IM services? Would AOL have been better served?  How about consumers? Probably so on both counts.

I believe that open is better than closed; supersetting is better than individual efforts; and nothing bad can happen if you do the right thing for a customer. I hope Facebook lives and learns and is listening for those who don’t learn from history will be doomed to repeat it.

“This Stuff is Awesome You Guys”

Yuck.

Great idea but bad introduction.

Citizen news is an old idea. We did something like this at Digital Cities back in 1997 but YouTube has such a big audience and such a great platform, my bet is something will gel here bottling up the power of millions of cameras and camera phones. Having ordinary people reporting on the news is a very powerful idea. Let’s just hope the commentary on the news isn’t like this opening introduction.

Positive Ink and Pixels for NHL

Way to go! This is an upbeat and poignant piece on the NHL Stanley Cup Finals. I agree with all of the points here. This Final will be a great platform for the NHL. This is great news but the only thing missing is a sense of rivalry in that I don’t think Pittsburgh even played Detroit this season.

I am hopeful that we can create this sense of excitement for fans in the future. Playing in a Final is what it is all about.
