  1. Actually, I’m hoping that Milbury does get to the Phone Booth in 2008-09 and I can chat with him. I’d love to ask him how that Roberto Luongo and Olli Jokinen for Oleg Kvasha and Mark Parrish trade is working out.

Yes he really did make that trade…Parrish is playing elsewhere, Kvasha isn’t in the NHL, while Luongo is an all-star goaltender, and Jokinen is an all-star too.

    Nice trade Mikey.

  2. Indeed, last year, NBC had in their studio BIll Clement (a former Cap!) as the primary anchor along with Ray Ferraro (a former Cap killer…) who provide some excellent insights on the Game. They also had Darren Pang as a sideline reporter, who is very effective as well.

Unfortunately, Chicken Parm (Ferraro) is busy right now with his new family (He and wife Cammi Granato just had a baby.. the likely #1 pick in 18 years at the draft!).

  3. Hey Ted, why not give some of said bloggers some fame and let them interview players?

Could be the next level of fan interaction (those who write good enough blogs that get your attention get rewarded by getting access to interviewing memebrs of the team).

On another note, at least AO thinks as quickly on his feet during interviews as he does on the ice. Good retort by him to Milbury.

  4. That was absolutely the most unprofessional conduct I’ve ever seen of a sportscaster. I understand Milbury isn’t a true sportscaster, and of course he wasn’t a real General Manager either.

Ted, I’d like to hope that you’d bar Milbury from EVER setting foot inside of Verizon Center again. His blatant disrespect for the Capitals and Alex Ovechkin is obvious, and as a kicker, he seems to take every opportunity to try and place Sidney Crosby over top of Ovie in the pecking order.

Crosby is undoubtedly a great hockey player, but I see no point in constantly comparing the two players in every sportscast they’re two different types of players.

Please Ted, tell NBC if they want to come back and broadcast games in the future they need to send someone besides Milbury, he clearly doesn’t know anything about hockey, and even less about the Capitals and how much we love this team. Yet he runs around with his cute “NBC SPORTS” microphone like he’s some sort of celebrity.

Bring back Bob Costas or Al Michaels. . . .

  5. I think Alex’s attitude was great… showing up in a suit and undershirt was classic, and calling Milbury a “little cat” (and I think implying a term beginning with pu…) was priceless.

Any chancenext year that you can deny Milbury a press credential?

  6. Cant the NHL Owners Media Committee put some pressure on NBC to come up with a better team than the one they currently have? How about some folks that the casual fan may know and tune in because they want to hear what they have to say? Its so minor league.

  7. That was the worst “sports” interview I’ve ever seen in my life although Ovie handled it well. NBC should be ashamed, but it was Mike Milbury so Caps fans are used to his crap :)

  8. Ted, with all the positive influence you have on the NHL, can you try to use your powers to get rid of Milbury on NBC, and those of us who have to endure him on TSN? He is even worse on TV than he was as a general manager, if that’s possible.

  9. Alex handles himself with so much class. He is so above their level it is ridiculous.

  10. The interview absolutely defined “inane” though I thought Alex delivered a subtle skewer or two. The “get a haircut” content was beyond belief.

Looking forward to the open house on June 12!

  11. Yes, it was disappointing. I wished AO declined to be interview with NBC, especially what Milbury said about him and the Capitals this post-season. We, Caps fans, will never forget and forgive what Mike Milbury said that disrespected the fan base and our team.
