Bad Bad Karma

I have friends in China. They are working hard to help the people affected by the powerful earthquake that has killed tens of thousands of people and destroyed countless homes and lives. China is a powerful nation but it is made up of a billion individuals that are all trying to pull together for a common good over this natural disaster. People are suffering. This is a major human relief effort around a serious natural disaster. The last thing these volunteers need is a “has been” Hollywood starlet to be commenting on their efforts or the reason for the suffering of these families in need. This comment will kill her career in China and the international market is about the only place Sharon Stone still “sells”. I am not surprised at all by the Chinese reaction to her comments. Imagine if someone equated ”karma” to what happened to the people in New Orleans over Hurricane Katrina. Despicable.

  1. I think there were some religous types who did say that Katrina was Karma. It was God’s revenge against homosexuality. Cookoo.

  2. Ted,
Please don’t forget that there were some evangelical “christians” who claimed that Katrina was god punishing the USA for legal abortion and homosexuality.

We’ve come to expect this kind of thing from radical, loud mouth “evangelicals,” but I’m kind of shocked to hear something like this spoken from somebody who claims to be a friend of the Dalai Lama. Thankfully the Dalai Lama is still physically alive and he can defend himself and say that he does not condone this type of behavior. Too bad Jesus Christ isn’t around to call out the Pat Robertson’s and John Hagy’s of the world as the hypocritical buffoons that they are.

  3. Global warming and that farce was insanely attributed to Hurricane Katrina and the New Orleans tragedy that resulted … that’s about the same as saying Karma was responsible for the China quakes – is it not?

Thanks for speaking out against stupidity from Hollywood types. I know you associate with many of that group as a producer and it is not typical for them to call each other out unless they don’t agree with the subject’s politics. And you’re right … she’s a real has been … was she ever a now? Nice – keep calling it like it is.
