A friend sent me this link. It is a good one. Here is a site that monitors the fluctuations in ad CPM prices for sites around the web. It shows that for the most part ad prices drop and CPMs drop around the web as there is so much inventory available and third party networks rule.

Reminds Me of Issues Around Opening AIM to Interoperability
Check out this article. Same issues, same optics and same concerns.
In hindsight, what would have been different for the industry had we opened AIM to interoperate with other IM services? Would AOL have been better served? How about consumers? Probably so on both counts.
I believe that open is better than closed; supersetting is better than individual efforts; and nothing bad can happen if you do the right thing for a customer. I hope Facebook lives and learns and is listening for those who don’t learn from history will be doomed to repeat it.
What Will the Ratings Be in Pittsburgh?
Off the chart is my guess, Redskins TV-like numbers. Can’t wait to see how this all plays out. Check out this piece here. Good stuff.
“This Stuff is Awesome You Guys”
Yuck.
Great idea but bad introduction.
Citizen news is an old idea. We did something like this at Digital Cities back in 1997 but YouTube has such a big audience and such a great platform, my bet is something will gel here bottling up the power of millions of cameras and camera phones. Having ordinary people reporting on the news is a very powerful idea. Let’s just hope the commentary on the news isn’t like this opening introduction.
Positive Ink and Pixels for NHL
Way to go! This is an upbeat and poignant piece on the NHL Stanley Cup Finals. I agree with all of the points here. This Final will be a great platform for the NHL. This is great news but the only thing missing is a sense of rivalry in that I don’t think Pittsburgh even played Detroit this season.
I am hopeful that we can create this sense of excitement for fans in the future. Playing in a Final is what it is all about.
Why Do We Have Fans Like This?
Last off season and pre-season, I received numerous emails and read some board postings from some of our fans on Nicklas Backstrom. Comments like “He is a bust”, ”Backstrom was at best a second round pick” and ”You blew this pick” came from some of our most earnest board posters directly to me. I think Nicklas Backstrom turned out to be a pretty good pick, don’t you? He is up for Rookie of the Year consideration. Alex Semin, Mike Green and Jeff Schultz all turned out pretty good too, didn’t they? Mike Green was picked 29th in the draft. Do you NOT think 28 other GMs are asking their scouts what went wrong in that draft?
Today I have received 3 emails - very, very deeply negative on Karl Alzner. What is up with these fans? He was Player of the Year in his league. He was captain of the Junior National team. He will most likely be a top 4 D-man in the NHL for a long, long time. Give the kid a break, will ya?
YouTube Has New “Kicking It” Trailer
Check it out. The film opens in theaters this June. More details to follow.
Go Bears!
Great news within.
Ouch
Chris Young of the Padres – our good friend – was injured when a line drive hit him in the face and basically broke his nose. We are all pulling for a speedy recovery for Chris.
Sad but True
The US is ranked 15th in the world in terms of modern broadband plant and quality of connections. That is midpoint out of 30 countries.
We will soon only represent 10 to 15 percent of internet users as well. We are being marginalized everywhere – in every aspect of business – on a global scale.
