A Generational Team

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

This is a goal that all franchises have - to win Stanley Cups - and to be in the hunt year after year after year. It is amazing that the Red Wings have been in the playoffs for 17 years and are now close to winning their fourth Cup in 11 years with this core team. The team’s core was built through the draft then through trades and free agency. They created a philosophy and culture and have stuck with it and it works. They should be proud of what they have created. If they win this evening and close out the series, one would have to say that they are a dominant team - best record in the league for the season and winners of the Cup - but that they have become a generational dynasty.

Dan Nailed It

Check out the video from the Orioles vs. Red Sox game in Baltimore when Manny Ramirez hit his 500th home run. Wow - it was a total sellout for Red Sox fans. I, by chance, was in Boston on Saturday night and watched the local TV sports broadcast at 11:00 pm from my hotel room. The newscaster commented that Red Sox nation had taken over O’s Park and wouldn’t give it back. Ouch!

Tennis Elbow

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Ouch! I can’t believe I have developed tennis elbow. It hurts so badly sometimes I literally can’t lift a glass of water. I am icing it and now even wearing an air cast until the swelling goes down. It is amazing how a tiny little issue can make your entire arm tremble; get weak; and make you feel awkward and so aware of your body parts.

Here is a nice story on Revolution, Steve Case and with mentions of me. I am proud of my work with Steve in the past and with these new start-ups. We are committed to building great companies that support our local economy. We also want to build franchises that do well by doing good. See mentions on the theory of a “double bottom” line within.
