  1. Mike Green is worth every penny! I would have like to seen a 6-7 year deal because he will be in his prime in 4 when his contract is up ($$$$$) As for Huet… he knows we are really waiting for are young prospects to be ready and it is a slam on his ego, and that stay or go, he was a quick fix for us and in 2 years he would be at the same place Kolzig was this year. No one, particularrly a pro sports player wants to see or accept thier own mortallity

  2. Gary, what do you mean they should have kept Olie? Did you miss the memo? Olie yanked his own name off the locker, missed the final team meeting, and flat out stated ‘I will never play in Washington again’…. what part of that makes you think that ‘keeping Olie’ was still an option for the team?

On top of that, if the report from the following website is correct… he took a FOUR MILLION dollar cut to get the h3ll out of DC!!

[[Kolzig's contract in Tampa Bay is for one year at $1.5-million (plus undisclosed bonuses), meaning the Lightning are getting close to the cap (they're over $50-million) and likely finished for the summer]]

Don’t get me wrong… I liked Olie as much as the next guy…. but keeping him was not an option.

    Onward CAPS!!!

  3. Mr. Leonsis,

This signing of Green shows the organizations continued support of a better feature for the team. Coming off a impressive playoff appearance expectations build. But it is also important to remember how you got there by building from within. It is equally important to maintain the core group that has been built. Again the Green signing shows those efforts. The feature continues to be bright for the Caps!! As I enter my freshman season in college at Springfield College in MA. No matter what state I am in or District. Weather it be NY, MA, or D.C. I will always be a Caps fan!! I can’t wait till next season starts!

    Thank You,
    Billy Mullooly

  4. Congratulations on getting Green to stay. I have to ask…Why in the world would you waste money on Theodore? He has lost more game than he has won. I am extremely disappointed. I am a season ticket holder that checks this website every day to see what’s happening. We were told that the Caps would put a better team on the ice next year. Well, no matter what else is done, our team will not be better. It starts with goaltending, that was proven last year, and we do not have a goaltender that anyone believes in, not even Theodore.

  5. Great signing. You are truly showing a commitment to winning. And Jose Theodore…nice!!! It would have been nice to have Huet back but Theodore will give us a couple of years until Neuvirth or Varlamov are ready…hopefully. None the less…way to go George and Ted!!!

  6. signing Huet instead of Theodore might have been a good move, as well. i am not understanding why the Huet deal fell apart. and i am a first time season ticket holder. oh brother.

  7. THEODORE? TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. i HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THIS, BECAUSE YOUR FANS ARE NOT

  8. If you weren’t going to sign Huet, then you might as well have kept Ollie.

I’m thinking my feelings will be echoed.

    Signed,
    NOT HAPPY :-(

  9. Mr. Leonsis:

Thank you – also Mike’s Green’s words at the press conference call as reported by Tarik El-Bashir speak volumes to how far you and your ownership team have taken the Caps as a preferred place to play and how fast they’ve gotten here. Can’t wait till next season. LETS GO CAPS!!!!!
