Ted:

The only way you want to make this list is this way "3. Ty Conklin. A monster comeback season (.923 save percentage) only got him $750,000 in Detroit? That’s a terrific bargain."

The Red Wings can respond they made a smart deal. I think Conklin's answer is/will be he wanted a really good shot at a ring and he wanted to get some reasobale playing time which he is likely to do, at least during the regular season, backing up Chris Osgood. Also given Osgood's age, tenure and last season great play, the roles will be clear and it'll be a relatively drama free place to play. After all Conklin played great when Marc-Andre was hurt this year in Pittsburgh and was likley beloved to many in Steeltown but he had enough drama earlier in his career that he can appreciate the deal in Detroit. I think "he gets it" and this works for both him and tthe Wings. Also if he has another good season, he might want to stay in Detroit and be a legitimate #1 - they don't seem to have a problem letting a guy pushing and even beyond mid to late 30's do that...;-> he could be in Hockeytown for a long time.

The Stuart and Conklin signings were great, and I think the writer agrees; it's a confusing top 10.

Laich isn't a top 6 forward, but Morrisonn is a top 2 defenseman.

GMGM really needs to sign Laich. He's not just a role player.

Interesting that the Huet signing made it to the list. Then again, he's going to make more $$ than Martin Broedeur next year despite not being the highest paid goaltender on his own team. Good luck to Chicago who are trying to move Khabibulin and the one year $6.7M remaining on his contract. Not going to be easy to find a team to take that big number...
