What a busy off season! Only one player is left to be re-signed now. Onward to arbitration or a negotiated contract with our last D man.

Offense is a Good Defense
Puck possession - as we saw with the Red Wings this season - is a good strategy to implement. If the puck is in the other end, the goaltender gets a breather and fewer shots on goal.
As you saw in some of the analytic work done and reported on in the blogosphere and Japers’, our defense is developing nicely and with an up tempo style of play. All players are involved and the pace of play is best suited for a young team with an attacking mentality.
Joe-Zay
Jose Theodore is very happy to be in DC. It is a sophisticated city with a great fan base and he knows the buzz around the league is very positive about our team; around the chemistry in the locker room; our coach and his relationship with the team; and the GM and ownership. He also very much liked the atmosphere at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex. Having a world class facility is very helpful to us. It makes players feel comfortable that they will be treated in a first class way.
We are all on the same page here now.
We want consistency. We want the team to grow together. We will improve as our young players mature and get better and better; all within a well-articulated system of play.
Pray for good health. And some luck. And great execution. Go Caps!
Developing Young Goaltenders
It takes a long time – no one knows nothing really - but it is good to know that we have ‘optionality’ and we can develop our goaltenders in the right way. It will be exciting to watch how our goaltenders progress but I also have a lot of faith in Theodore and Johnson as a tandem. And my bet is that Brent Johnson will have a great year between the pipes this season.
ESPN Sports Documentaries
See this article from Variety. ESPN is now in the sports documentary business and one of their first projects is “Kicking It”, our film that is in theatres now.
