  1. @ Sombrero Guy (I’m assuming the REAL Sombrero guy):

I grew up on the Eastern Shore as well. Somerset County to be exact. Boy, don’t we get left out of all DC vs. Baltimore arguments? Maybe this is why I don’t appreciate them. I cheer for the O’s, Capitals, the University of Maryland (my dad used to work in the Athletic Department there) and the New York Giants since I was 9 (don’t ask). I will cheer for the Skins, as long as they aren’t playing the G men. I will never cheer for the Ravens/Browns.

  2. without going into a long history, washington did not steal my team, mlb did (the owners collectively)!!!

  3. It is always nice to see two right-wing rags go at each other over nothing for a change. At least one of them has an influential national following and first-rate sports coverage.

  4. I Grew up on the Eastern Shore of MD, live in Baltimore now, and I happily claim the Caps as I have for almost 20 years. I also cheer for the O’s, and both the ravens and the redskins (ravens get the nod when they play each other)

  5. Loverrero is an excellent sports columnist. The best in DC. And that includes some over his wildly overrated competitors at the Post.

  6. Enough with the Baltimore vs. DC bull. I agree 100% that “stealing” the Expos from Montreal is a much smaller offense than STEALING the Browns from Cleveland, but that’s obvious. This article was no better than the “filler” they attack in last week’s lousy Examiner.

Baltimore and DC fans deserve much more from their sports writers than this type of garbage. Why can’t DC cheer for UM? Why can’t Baltimore claim the Capitals as their team too? I’m hoping that you, Ted, would take a neutral stance in this “debate”. The Redskins people can say whatever they want about the Ravens people, and vice versa. But, as the owner of the only major hockey franchise in the area, you can’t really afford to ostracize Baltimore fans. By perpetuating this cat fight, I wonder if you value the Baltimore fans as much as you should. You have a very good product, and us Baltimore fans have supported your product for a very long time. It’s obvious by your postings that you have a bias against Baltimore for some reason. It’s a shame, because that could chase more people away than the “spirit squad” could ever recover. Luckily for you, the people who read your blog have already made a commitment to the Capitals.

DC fans tend to chase away us Baltimore fans, and I’m sure Baltimore Orioles fans did a similar thing when they had the only baseball team around. It’s a shame, and it needs to stop. Especially with the Wizards and the Capitals.
