Ove called ESPN and told them he didnt want the award cause he only has shelf space for REAL awards like the Hart or Rocket or one of the others he and only he in the history of the game has won all in the same year. Ove told them to give it to Crosby cause his season wasnt up to par this year and he didnt get any awards. Who gives a crap what ESPN thinks about hockey. There opinion has been irelivent ssince the lockout when they gave up on hockey. Fare weather fans dont count so ESPN can bite me.

who cares—the espy is irrelevant—while individual hockey awards from the nhl are significant, an espy is not.
of course lets not lose site of the most significant trophy of all, maybe next year alex will be able to bring lord stanley’s cup to the espy award show!
What a farce those ESPYs are. What a total crock of crap. They mean absolutely nothing. This is just another reason why ESPN sucks.
If there was any indication that in order for this sport to continue to grow was last night’s ESPY’s and the lack of hockey in them. The ONLY hockey part of the whole night was Rick Nash’s nomination for best play of the year. How sad is that NHL? Yes Vs. is a nice fill in but it is becoming more and more apparent that Vs. will ALWAYS play 2nd fiddle to ESPN. Ted is the type of person who when something is gone he is done with it and turns the page so I’m not so sure he’s supportive of it but I sure do hope that other ownership groups want to puch more for moving the broadcasting rights back to where it should and needs to be.
Who cares what E.S.P.N.’s input to the world of hockey…it just shows there ignorance on the subject. What about Malkin, Zetterberg or Kolvalchuk!!! They can hate on Ovie if they like because there award means squat to hockey fans, but those other guys I listed deserve it way more tan Crosby. Not to be hating on Sid the kid but this wasn’t a year that warranted any rewards for him.

Simple reason….Alex can win all the trophies and even the Stanly Cup, but no matter what he does, he can not become Canadian. They will never support anyone other than a native son no matter how superior he might be. Sorry Alex you will have to settle for being the best in the world, but not on ESPN.
