I get nervous when I read these reviews. I like being the underdog; having a chip on our shoulder; and wanting to prove the media and the experts wrong. Thank you for the nice write-up but I don’t want to believe it. I know every game will be a battle and our record will be what it is at season’s end based on execution, performance, health and luck.
Admittedly you don’t want to see the good previews of this team, but face it. The Caps have:
The deepest set of forwards in the Eastern Conference, comprable only to Detroit in the West.
A talented set of defensemen with a nice mix of offense (Green, Poti) with defensive skill (Schultz, Morrisonn) and, oh yeah, a Calder Trophy candidate rookie (Alzner).
A goaltender that has won the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in the league, and a back up who has been a starter that took his team to the playoffs in St. Louis.
Last year I posted that the Caps would win the division, and no one believed me, especially after the dreadful start to the season.
Well, now I think the Caps will finish first in the East and win the Eastern championship…and perhaps the Cup if they get the right match up from the west (meaning: Not Detroit!)
