Jose Theodore has pretty good stats in shootouts. Nice article here.
I also think he has never lost a first round playoff series either.

Jose Theodore was a member of the 1996-97 Canadiens who lost in the first round to New Jersey. He wasn’t the regular goaltender that year, but was part of a tandem. He did play in the playoffs in 2 games and did pretty well…
In the four seasons where he was the team’s regular goaltender he never lost in the first round and never won in the second. I think that could change here in DC as I think this may be the best team he has played for.
His shootout record is outstanding. Certainly being a righty catcher means that the shooter has to think in reverse, but additionally, he has tremendous reaction time.
Of course, with the Caps this year, it will be the goalie’s job to not lose games, there won’t be a need to steal them…
Part of Theodore’s advantage in the shootout is that he’s a right-handed catching goalie. There aren’t many of them in the NHL, and they enjoy a matchup advantage against left-handed shooters, which make up about 2/3rd of NHL skaters. This is something I dug into last year around this time, and it helps explain some of Matheiu Garon’s success in Edmonton as well.
