Norv Turner Deserves to be Upset

The San Diego Chargers lost a game because of two non calls by the game officials. The first non call happened because the cameras that handle replays weren’t working on the sidelines. What?!!!!!!!! And the second was an admitted blown call that would have ended the game in San Diego’s favor.

I have to admit that the game was one of the best I have seen in a long, long time but as a sports team owner, I just wince when I see a game lost because of an official’s call. Teams work so hard to win and who knows if this loss will ultimately keep San Diego out of the playoffs this season. No one will remember the calls. All people will see is the won/loss column.

To lose a game that was winnable on two pivotal calls by on field officials is deeply depressing.

  1. @G$

    1) The call on the ice for the second goal the Flyers scored in game 7 was absolutely correct. The goal that cost the series was the softie that Cristobal Huet let in in as the Flyers first goal.

    2) Of course, Game 7 was the night that Biron chose to have his best game of the series, and perhaps of the playoffs.

  2. Ted,

I am an avid Broncos fan and yes the Chargers got robbed on the play, However its the Chargers for one so im happy! and this happens all the time… So my heart isnt bleeding for them one bit!!! Did my Donkeys get a break? Yes!!! and you know what? I’ll take it!!!!!
    :)

Two teams I root for with passion?

    Capitals and Broncos!!!!

  3. He does deserve to be upset – but Hockuli does his job a heck of a lot better, and alot more consistently than Norv does or ever has. Norv has arguably more talent that anyone else in the league and he is 0-2. But hey – he’s out there competin’ !!!

  4. Yes, the non-calls were rergretable. But San Diego had a number of other opportunities that they blew, throughout the game. Norv can’t simply blame the officials.

  5. But if winning or losing really comes down to a call by the referee, even one that would change posession of the ball, are’nt there more issues to your game plan then that one moment?
