Rock Bottom: Only Way to Go is Up for Mystics

Now the rebuilding can begin.

We have to get a high draft pick in the off season. Hopefully a great young player will be added and can become a cornerstone player for us. We have to use trades where we can add youth and get more picks and prospects. We have to use free agency to add veteran presence. And our young players that got lots of playing time this season after the Olympic break will just mature and get better and better.

We want to rebuild this team the right way. There will be no quick fixes or shortcuts. We are looking at long term solutions. We want to build a great team and one we can be proud of. That is the plan. Does it sound familiar?

  1. The Mystics season was really, really dreadful. I’m sorry but I really wish Sheila Johnson had addressed the fans at the end of the game to thank them for their support given just how bad the season was (even if she just thanked the fans without mentioning how the team did this year; Mystics fans are not as vocal as Caps fans so I doubt there would have been booing.) Instead, there was the Owner’s Box Boogie, which is only fun when you are winning the game. I went to the Ovechkin meet and greet (gave me a good reason to go to the game) so I did not sit in my usual seat. In the section where I was sitting, I heard several season ticket holders saying good-bye to the usher and telling her that they were not renewing. I really hope that all involved with this team – the GM, coaches, and players – are put under the microscope and anyone who needs to go is shown the door ASAP. I think that last season, the Caps showed that a team needs good young players but a team also some good veterans who want to lead and help the younger players and a coach who the players believe in and who can push the players to exceed their expectations. The Mystics also need to emulate that.

  2. Not familiar at all…

Maybe you should hire Alex’s mom to consult. I know his brother is working for the ‘Sticks already….
